Queen Rearing Calendar

Never miss a grafting date

Overview

The Queen Rearing Calendar is a precision tool for managing queen production. Enter your grafting date and the calendar automatically generates a complete timeline with four milestones: cell capping (Day 5), cell transfer (Day 11), queen emergence (Day 16), and egg-laying start (Day 28).

The calendar accounts for biological timing β€” from the 16-day development cycle to the typical 12-day mating period. Each milestone can be added directly to your device calendar so you never miss a critical date.

The international queen marking color scheme is displayed on each hive's detail page, showing the correct color (white, yellow, red, green, or blue) based on the queen's install year.

How It Works

1

Open the Queen Calendar from the tools menu.

2

Enter the date you grafted (or plan to graft) queen cells.

3

The calendar generates all four milestones with exact dates.

4

Tap the calendar icon on any milestone to add it to your device calendar.

Tips & Best Practices

  • πŸ’‘Start your calendar a day early to account for temperature-dependent development variations.
  • πŸ’‘The Day 11 transfer window is when queen cells should be moved to mating nucs.
  • πŸ’‘The queen marking color for each hive is shown on the hive detail page based on install year.
  • πŸ’‘Plan grafting dates around favorable weather windows for optimal mating flights.
