Hive IQ

AI-powered colony health scoring

Overview

Hive IQ is your colony's health score β€” a single number from 0–100 that tells you how your hive is doing at a glance. The score is calculated from your most recent inspection data using five weighted factors: Queen Status (35 points), Brood Pattern (25 points), Food Stores (20 points), Temperament (10 points), and Mite Pressure (10 points).

The algorithm accounts for quick inspections β€” if a factor wasn't checked, it receives a neutral score rather than penalizing the colony. High mite counts (9+) trigger a 20-point penalty, and quarantine diseases like AFB/EFB override the score entirely.

Hive IQ updates automatically after every inspection. Each hive card shows a letter grade (A through F) with a color-coded indicator, helping you prioritize which colonies need attention first.

How It Works

1

Complete a regular inspection for any hive.

2

The Hive IQ score is calculated automatically from your inspection data.

3

View the score on your dashboard β€” it appears on each hive card.

4

Tap into a hive to see the full breakdown of contributing factors.

Tips & Best Practices

  • πŸ’‘Log inspections regularly to keep your Hive IQ scores current and accurate.
  • πŸ’‘A declining score over 2–3 inspections is a stronger signal than any single low score.
  • πŸ’‘Use Hive IQ to quickly identify which hives in a large apiary need attention first.
  • πŸ’‘Compare Hive IQ across your apiary to spot systemic issues vs. individual problems.
